
General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited Peshawar today, where he received a comprehensive briefing on the security situation and ongoing counter-terrorism operations against Fitna Al Khwarij. The briefing was attended by the Federal Minister of Interior and the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During his visit, the COAS lauded the unwavering resolve and sacrifices of Pakistan Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies in dismantling terrorist networks. He praised their courage and dedication in degrading the operational capabilities of terrorist organizations and thwarting their nefarious agendas.
“This war is ongoing, and we will take it to its logical conclusion, InshAllah,” said the COAS. He highlighted the significant achievements of security forces, including the elimination of key terrorist leaders, dismantling of infrastructure, and neutralization of terror cells.
The COAS emphasized the readiness and professionalism of the forces in ensuring the safety of citizens, maintaining peace, and foiling numerous attacks. “The enemy may try to sow discord, but hostile elements will be dealt with an iron hand,” he asserted.
General Munir also commended the high morale of the troops and reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty and its people.
During the visit, the COAS interacted with political leaders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who emphasized the need for unity and public support against terrorism. The leaders expressed unanimous support for the Armed Forces and agreed on creating a unified front, transcending political divides, to combat extremist ideologies.
The COAS concluded his visit with a strong message: “Any attempt to disturb the peace of the nation will be met with decisive and overwhelming force.”
Upon arrival, General Munir was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar.
