QUETTA: The Balochistan Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Wednesday announced that 14 suspected militants were killed in separate security operations carried out in Quetta and Barkhan districts.

According to a CTD statement, eight armed suspects were killed during a security operation conducted in Quetta’s Darakhshan area. The exchange of fire occurred when militants resisted law enforcement personnel during the raid. Three CTD officials sustained injuries in the operation.
Authorities said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the suspects, who were believed to be affiliated with a banned militant organisation.
In a separate intelligence-based operation in Barkhan district, six suspected terrorists were killed during another exchange of fire. The CTD confirmed that all security personnel remained unharmed, while arms and ammunition were seized from the militants.
Officials stated that the individuals killed were involved in planning acts aimed at disrupting peace and security. The CTD reiterated its commitment to continuing operations to eliminate terrorism from the region.
The latest actions come amid intensified counter-terrorism efforts as security forces respond to a deteriorating security situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Earlier, on February 5, security forces concluded “Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1” in Balochistan, during which 216 militants were killed in multi-day clearance operations, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The operation was launched following a wave of coordinated attacks across the province on January 31 that disrupted normal life for several days.
Officials added that nearly 180 suspects were arrested during simultaneous operations, while a large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered by Frontier Corps and police.
