The decision was made during a special meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain. The session focused on tightening scrutiny of travellers attempting to go abroad with forged documents and strengthening the overall immigration framework.
Officials approved measures to make the protector issuance system foolproof, along with reforms aimed at improving passenger convenience. Final recommendations have been sought within seven days.
Authorities were instructed to launch a vigorous nationwide operation against fake visa operators and agent mafias. Naqvi announced that an AI-based pilot project will begin in Islamabad in January to identify in advance which travellers are eligible to fly. He added that once a deported person’s passport is cancelled, new safeguards will ensure they cannot obtain another visa.
The minister also revealed plans for issuing a standardized international driving licence through the National Police Bureau and declared a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of visa fraud. He stressed that illegal travel not only harms individuals but also damages Pakistan’s international reputation.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain emphasised that a fully transparent and efficient protector system is essential. He underscored the necessity for genuine labour visa documents and assured full cooperation with the Interior Ministry to strengthen immigration and protector processes.
The meeting also reviewed ongoing actions against illegal migrants and individuals travelling with incomplete documentation. Discussions covered e-driving licences, protector stamps, and improvements to immigration procedures.
Senior officials, including the interior secretary, secretaries for overseas Pakistanis, the NADRA chairman, FIA leadership, DG Passport and Immigration, and representatives from all relevant departments, attended the session.
