KARACHI — The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has launched a city-wide crackdown on illegal constructions, intensifying operations to curb unauthorized buildings and illegal portions, officials announced on Sunday.

SBCA Additional Director Operations Farhan Qaiser stated that illegal constructions will no longer be tolerated anywhere in Sindh, and strict action will be taken wherever violations of building regulations are identified.
The campaign includes surprise inspections in various areas of Karachi, with immediate demolition action against any unauthorized construction. Citizens have been urged to report illegal building activity in their neighborhoods to aid authorities in enforcing the law.
Key Operations:
Clifton: At Plot No. 11/10, Block 09, Scheme 02, an illegal penthouse was removed from a structure approved for ground plus eight floors.
Mehran Town: Demolition carried out at Plot No. C-26, Sector 4F, and at Plots B-211 and B-212, Block 3, Gulistan-e-Johar, Scheme 36 for violations of construction rules.
PECHS: Illegal third floors were demolished at Plot No. 58-U in Block 6 and Plot No. 133-G in Block 2, with RCC columns, walls, and slabs removed.
Following the operations, Farhan Qaiser chaired an emergency meeting to formulate a comprehensive strategy against illegal constructions across Karachi. Demolition teams were instructed to operate around the clock, and officials were warned that negligence would result in strict disciplinary action.
Qaiser specifically addressed the so-called “portion mafia,” warning that nighttime illegal constructions would no longer be tolerated. He emphasized that not a single illegal brick would be allowed to be laid in Sindh and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to public safety and the enforcement of building laws.
Observers note that the success of the campaign will depend on the consistency of enforcement in the coming weeks, as previous operations have often slowed after initial actions.
