Pakistan has expressed serious concerns over a recent report issued by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), saying much of the information appears to be based on the position of the Afghan Taliban authorities and raises questions about the report’s accuracy and balance.

According to an official statement, the report gives insufficient weight to independently verified and reliable sources. Pakistan also highlighted that the Taliban government maintains close ties with various militant groups and allows Afghan territory to be used for attacks against Pakistan.
These cross-border attacks have resulted in significant casualties among civilians and security personnel in Pakistan, the statement said.
Islamabad noted that despite several diplomatic efforts facilitated through friendly countries, no meaningful progress has been made in addressing the issue.
Pakistan urged the Afghan Taliban authorities to decide whether they wish to prioritise relations with Pakistan or continue providing sanctuary to militant organisations operating from Afghan soil.
The statement emphasised that all counter-terrorism operations carried out by Pakistan’s armed forces are conducted with precision and professionalism, based on credible and verifiable intelligence.
Officials said security forces take extraordinary precautions to protect civilians during operations, targeting militant hideouts located in remote areas away from populated regions and sensitive locations, including areas far from Kabul Green Zone.
Pakistan also expressed concern that the Taliban administration continues to provide safe havens and protection to militant elements, enabling them to carry out activities that threaten regional peace and the country’s national security.
The government also referred to a recent deadly attack in Miranshah, which caused casualties among innocent civilians, including children.
Pakistan said it hopes UNAMA will report such incidents with the same seriousness and impartiality, ensuring a balanced and accurate reflection of ground realities.
The country reaffirmed its commitment to responsible counter-terrorism efforts and pledged to continue constructive cooperation with the United Nations and other international partners to promote peace and stability in the region.
