Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi confirmed that the Afghan Deputy Ambassador was handed a formal protest note expressing serious concern over the alleged use of Afghan territory in the February 16 attack.
According to officials, security forces in Bajaur were targeted in a cross-border assault carried out by militants affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij, resulting in the martyrdom of 11 personnel.
The spokesperson said Pakistan conveyed its grave concern that Afghan soil continues to be used for terrorist activities against the country. He added that the leadership of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) remains based in Afghanistan and is reportedly operating openly from there.
During the meeting, the Afghan diplomat was told that such incidents undermine bilateral relations and threaten regional peace and stability. Officials noted that despite repeated assurances from the Afghan Taliban authorities, concrete action against cross-border militant groups has remained limited.
Pakistan urged the Afghan government to take effective and tangible measures against militants operating from its territory to prevent future attacks and improve regional security.
