KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert as a new western weather system enters the country, affecting western regions and expected to influence local weather until March 20, 2026.

According to PMD, Karachi and other districts of Sindh will experience strong westerly winds, moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and possible light hail on March 18 and 19. The system may also bring gusty winds and lightning in urban areas.
On March 19, rainfall is forecasted in multiple districts, including Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Dadu, Larkana, Qambar Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, and Ghotki.
The Meteorological Department has urged farmers to adjust their crop management plans according to the forecast, warning that heavy rains, strong winds, and hail could potentially damage agricultural areas.
Residents are advised to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, and stay updated with official alerts.
