According to an official notification, the suspended officers include Deputy Director Shahid Hussain Khushk, Assistant Director Arfan Ahmed Soomro, Sub-Building Inspector Aurangzeb Ali Khan, and Building Inspector Sajid Ali Detho. The suspension has taken immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.
The notification directs the suspended officials to report to the SBCA Administration Section, which has been designated as their headquarters during the suspension period.
Meanwhile, SBCA Director General Muzammil Hussain has issued a show-cause notice to Deputy Director (Look After) Engineer Mubashir Alam Shaikh, currently posted in District East.
According to the notice, illegal and unauthorized constructions allegedly continued within his jurisdiction due to negligence, inefficiency, and failure to perform official duties. The notice terms these actions as misconduct and gross negligence under the SBCA Efficiency and Discipline Regulations, 2016.
Engineer Mubashir Alam Shaikh has been given seven days to submit a written explanation as to why disciplinary proceedings should not be initiated against him. Failure to respond within the stipulated period may result in ex-parte action.
SBCA officials stated that the measures are part of an intensified crackdown on building regulation violations in District East. Further departmental proceedings are expected as authorities seek to strengthen enforcement and address rising complaints regarding illegal constructions across Karachi.
Sources indicate that the authority has stepped up internal accountability mechanisms amid growing public concern over unchecked building violations in various parts of the city.
