ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of 14 newborn babies in a fire at the nursery of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). In a message on social media platform X, the former prime minister said he was deeply saddened by the loss of the innocent children in the tragic incident. Nawaz Sharif expressed solidarity with the grieving parents and prayed for patience and strength for the bereaved families. He urged the government to conduct a thorough investigation and immediately identify those responsible for the incident. The PML-N leader called for strict action against anyone found responsible for negligence, stressing that accountability was necessary to prevent similar tragedies. Nawaz also urged authorities to introduce effective safety measures at hospitals to ensure that such an incident does not happen again. The deaths at PIMS have prompted a wider investigation into fire safety, emergency preparedness and administrative arrangements at the hospital.
