Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of contributing to the political crisis facing its government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa through what he described as a soft stance towards militant groups. “While innocent people continued to lose their lives and young men embraced martyrdom, the PTI founder kept talking about allowing terrorist groups to reopen their offices,” Sharjeel said in a statement. He said PTI had itself to blame for the challenges facing its provincial government. Instead of focusing on public service and protecting citizens, he alleged, the party had kept the province entangled in confrontational politics and was now facing the consequences of its decisions. Commenting on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the minister expressed disappointment over what he described as the veteran politician’s discouraging statements. Sharjeel noted that Fazlur Rehman had personally experienced the threat of terrorism and that members of his party had also suffered losses in militant attacks. He expressed hope that the JUI-F chief would take a clear stand against terrorism and show solidarity with the families of security personnel killed in the line of duty, as well as civilians who had lost their lives in terrorist violence. The Sindh minister praised Pakistan’s armed forces, describing their officers and soldiers as a source of pride for the nation. He said security personnel continued to risk their lives to protect citizens and safeguard the country’s future. Sharjeel stressed that political interests should never take precedence over national security, urging political leaders to unite against terrorism and prioritise the safety of the public.
