According to international media reports, the new season now stands as the third-biggest launch in Netflix’s overall history, trailing only behind the Korean phenomenon Squid Game Seasons 2 and 3, which still hold the top spots.
Season 5’s premiere numbers are a staggering 171% higher than those of the previous season, underscoring the franchise’s surging global popularity. Anticipation for the new episodes had been building for months, fuelled by teasers, fan theories and the show’s massive worldwide following.
In an unprecedented milestone, all five seasons of Stranger Things entered Netflix’s global Top 10 list simultaneously — a rare achievement that reflects the enduring strength of the franchise.
The first four episodes of Season 5 are currently streaming, with three more set for release on Christmas Day. The final episode will arrive on New Year’s Eve, adding to the festive season’s entertainment lineup.
In Netflix’s weekly rankings, Kevin Hart’s comedy special Acting My Age climbed to the second position with 9.2 million views. On the film side, Jingle Bell Heist led the charts, drawing 19.3 million views to secure the number one spot.
