Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt continued their remarkable European rise after eliminating Italian giants Inter Milan to reach the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in club history.
Gold and Silver Prices Extend Rally for Fourth Straight Day in Global and Local Markets
Coached by Kjetil Knutsen, the Norwegian champions secured a stunning 5-2 aggregate victory over last season’s runners-up, marking one of the biggest achievements ever by a club from north of the Arctic Circle.
Knutsen praised the achievement as a milestone not only for the club but also for Norwegian football, highlighting the team’s focus on long-term development rather than short-term results. The victory capped a run of four consecutive Champions League wins, including notable triumphs over Manchester City and Atlético Madrid during the league phase.
Promoted to Norway’s top division only in 2017, Bodo/Glimt have rapidly transformed into a dominant domestic force, winning four league titles in the past six seasons. Their steady progress in Europe included a historic run to the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League last season, previously their best continental performance.
Despite operating with a modest budget and lacking global superstars, the club has built a reputation for disciplined tactics and strong team cohesion. Known for the challenging conditions at their compact Aspmyra Stadium, the team has now demonstrated impressive away form as well.
Goals from Jens Petter Hauge and Hakon Evjen sealed the decisive victory, leaving Inter unable to recover despite dominating early stages of the match. Inter coach Cristian Chivu acknowledged the competitiveness of the tournament, crediting Bodo/Glimt’s performances throughout the campaign.
The Norwegian side now awaits a last-16 clash against either Manchester City or Sporting Lisbon, as their fairytale Champions League journey continues.
