All four goals were scored inside the opening 27 minutes, extending Chelsea’s poor run to just one Premier League win in their last seven matches.
Bournemouth made a fast start when David Brooks opened the scoring, but defensive frailties again proved costly for the visitors, who have conceded more away goals than any other team in the Premier League this season. Chelsea responded through Palmer, who converted from the penalty spot, before Enzo Fernandez was left unmarked to curl a fine finish into the top corner.
However, Chelsea failed to cope with a long throw for the second time in the match, allowing Justin Kluivert to turn in Antoine Semenyo’s delivery at the back post to level the score.
The mood inside Stamford Bridge soured further just after the hour mark when Maresca replaced Palmer with Joao Pedro, a decision that was met with loud boos from the home crowd. Chelsea were fortunate to avoid defeat in stoppage time when Enes Unal missed a clear opportunity to hand Bournemouth their first league win since October 26.
Elsewhere, Newcastle United claimed only their second away league victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Burnley. Early goals from Joelinton and Yoane Wissa put the visitors 2-0 up within seven minutes. Burnley, now winless in 10 matches, fought back through Josh Laurent, who later struck the woodwork twice before Bruno Guimaraes sealed the win for Eddie Howe’s side.
Everton climbed into the top half of the table with a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, defeating former manager Sean Dyche for the second time in a month. Goals from James Garner and Thierno Barry lifted the Toffees, while Forest remain just four points above the relegation zone.
In another match, West Ham United were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Brighton after surrendering the lead twice. Jarrod Bowen scored early for the Hammers, but a dramatic first half featuring three penalties saw Danny Welbeck equalise before Lucas Paqueta restored West Ham’s advantage. Joel Veltman later scored from a corner to earn Brighton a point.
