Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), visited Muzaffarabad on Wednesday, where he paid homage to the martyrs of the freedom struggle by laying a wreath at the Jammu and Kashmir Martyrs Monument.

During the visit, the COAS & CDF offered tributes to the Shuhada of the Kashmir movement, acknowledging their legacy of courage and sacrifice.
Interacting with local notables and veterans, Field Marshal Munir reiterated Pakistan’s political, moral, and diplomatic support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK). He said that alleged human rights violations and continued tensions have not diminished the resolve and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s position on Kashmir, the COAS & CDF stated that Pakistan would continue to raise the issue at international forums in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions, expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir until a just resolution of the dispute is achieved.
He also commended the professionalism, morale, and operational readiness of officers and soldiers deployed in the region despite challenging conditions, stressing the importance of maintaining high levels of preparedness, vigilance, and coordination across all domains.
Later, Field Marshal Munir visited a forward post and interacted with frontline troops. He emphasized that any act of aggression would be met with a swift and appropriate response, adding that the Armed Forces remain fully prepared to counter both conventional and hybrid threats in an evolving security environment.
