His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, visited Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS) on Sunday, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II and a delegation of senior Jordanian civil and military officials. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), along with other senior Pakistani officials, welcomed the royal guests.
During the visit, King Abdullah II received a detailed briefing on GIDS’ structure, capabilities, and defence product portfolio. The presentation highlighted Pakistan’s advancements in indigenous defence production, its technological innovations, and opportunities for enhanced bilateral defence cooperation between Pakistan and Jordan.
Later, the Jordanian monarch visited the Tilla Field Firing Ranges, where he was joined by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence Industry, Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev, was also present among the distinguished guests.
King Abdullah II and the delegation witnessed a joint fire and manoeuvre exercise showcasing multi-domain operations, including conventional and air firepower, coordinated manoeuvres, spectrum warfare capabilities, and multi-purpose drones deployed in various roles.
The king praised the professionalism, high training standards, and operational readiness demonstrated by the troops and aircrews participating in the exercise.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s deep respect for King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan, stating that the visit reflects a long-standing friendship built on mutual trust, cooperation, and a shared desire for peace and development.
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed the strength of the Pakistan–Jordan defence partnership, emphasising Islamabad’s commitment to expanding military-to-military cooperation and advancing their shared vision for regional stability.
Earlier, King Abdullah II conferred the Order of the Military Merit of First Degree upon the COAS in recognition of his outstanding service and efforts to strengthen defence ties between Pakistan and Jordan.
The monarch’s two-day visit marks a significant step in reinforcing the historic bonds of brotherhood between the two nations.
