The decision was taken during a special meeting chaired by the chief minister, where officials presented a detailed briefing on proposals related to infrastructure planning and urban design reforms.
Under the newly approved “One Punjab, One Standard” policy, roads, green belts, signboards, and footpaths throughout Punjab will follow standardised designs to promote consistent development and administrative efficiency.
The meeting also endorsed plans to standardise architectural designs for schools, hospitals, bus stops, and other public buildings. Officials discussed establishing an autonomous authority responsible for overseeing implementation and ensuring compliance with new urban design standards.
In addition, proposals to introduce uniform designs for roadside kiosks and small shop cabins along highways were reviewed as part of efforts to improve visual order and infrastructure management.
Maryam Nawaz directed authorities to prepare a comprehensive design manual, stating that the province would adopt a unified identity through consistent planning and development standards.
“Discipline is the true beauty of development. From Lahore to Rajanpur, every street will be organised and every highway aesthetically pleasing,” she said, adding that uniform infrastructure and road furniture would enhance the province’s overall urban identity and visual appeal.
