In a Friday session of the National Assembly, Minister of State for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja revealed a remarkable 28% increase in Information and Computer Technology (ICT) exports during the first six months of the current fiscal year. This growth, she noted, is closely linked to enhanced internet usage and improved connectivity speeds across the country.
Addressing queries during the Question Hour, Shaza Fatima reassured the House that VPNs and WhatsApp remain fully functional, and significant efforts are being made to improve the overall internet experience nationwide.
Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change Ahmad Atteeq Anwer also provided updates on the Green Pakistan Programme, a national flagship initiative aimed at environmental sustainability. Since 2019, the program has facilitated the plantation and distribution of 2.2 billion plants nationwide, with a target of planting 3.29 billion trees by 2028.
Anwer highlighted the annual spring and monsoon plantation campaigns organized under the program and announced the government’s consideration of a new climate finance governance framework to streamline climate-related financial processes and improve accessibility.
The House was adjourned and is set to reconvene on Monday at 5 pm.
