In a landmark move for international cricket cooperation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Italian Cricket Federation (FCRI) have signed a historic memorandum of understanding (MoU) to foster the growth of cricket in Italy. The agreement follows Italy’s qualification for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, highlighting a new chapter in sports diplomacy between the two nations.
The MoU was formally signed by PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmad Syed and FCRI President Maria Lorena Haz Paz. The partnership is designed to advance both men’s and women’s cricket in Italy, providing a platform for structural, technical, and competitive development as the country strengthens its presence on the international stage.
Under the agreement, both boards will collaborate on:
-
Exchange of coaching and technical experts
-
Joint development programs including training camps, workshops, and seminars
-
Friendly matches and bilateral tournaments at various levels
-
Support for cricket infrastructure development across Italy
-
Assistance in youth programs to grow grassroots participation
PCB officials described the MoU as a major step in accelerating cricket’s growth in Italy while offering valuable experience for players and coaches from both countries. Sumair Ahmad Syed emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to supporting global cricket development and fostering sporting and cultural ties through the partnership.
FCRI President Maria Lorena Haz Paz welcomed the collaboration, noting that it aligns with Italy’s long-term strategy to elevate cricket standards. She added that Italy is exploring further international partnerships to strengthen the sport domestically.
Officials highlighted that beyond cricket development, the MoU will reinforce diplomatic and cultural relations between Pakistan and Italy. “The agreement will further strengthen the relations between Pakistan and Italy,” said Sumair Ahmad Syed, expressing optimism about a productive, long-term collaboration benefiting players, coaches, and fans in both countries.
