Pakistan and Egypt have agreed to expand cooperation across political, defence and economic sectors, while pledging full mutual support in counterterrorism efforts. The understanding was reached during a joint press conference in Islamabad addressed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty.

Welcoming his Egyptian counterpart, Ishaq Dar said the visit reflects a shared desire to further strengthen bilateral ties. He said both sides agreed to deepen political dialogue, expand economic partnership and enhance cooperation in defence and other key areas.
Dar described Egypt as an important partner for Pakistan in the Muslim world and announced new initiatives to enhance economic collaboration. Pakistan will provide Egypt with an initial list of 250 business houses across various sectors—compiled with input from business chambers and trade federations—followed by an additional 250 companies after six months. A Pakistan–Egypt Business Forum will also be launched, with its first meeting to be held in Egypt.
The two ministers also discussed regional and global developments, including the situations in Gaza, Jammu and Kashmir and Afghanistan. Dar further announced that Egypt has doubled scholarships for Pakistani students, particularly at Al-Azhar University.
Egypt Condemns Terror Attacks, Backs Pakistan Against Extremism
Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdelatty strongly condemned recent terrorist attacks in Islamabad and Peshawar and expressed condolences over the loss of lives. Reaffirming Egypt’s solidarity with Pakistan, he pledged full cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism.
He noted that Pakistan and Egypt enjoy historic and brotherly relations grounded in mutual respect, and said both countries have agreed to broaden cooperation in political engagement, economic partnership and defence collaboration. Efforts will also be made to increase bilateral trade and promote joint investments, especially in agriculture, pharmaceuticals and livestock sectors.
Egypt Seeks Pakistan’s Role in Gaza Reconstruction
Dr Abdelatty praised Pakistan’s consistent support at multilateral forums and acknowledged Islamabad’s role in efforts toward a Gaza ceasefire. He said Egypt looks forward to Pakistan’s cooperation in Gaza’s reconstruction and emphasized that the Palestinian issue must be resolved through a two-state solution based on UN resolutions.
Earlier, Dr Abdelatty was received by Ishaq Dar at the Foreign Office, where the two leaders held delegation-level talks focusing on economic and defence cooperation. Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening long-standing ties and addressing shared challenges together.
