Rawalpindi, February 12, 2026: Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has successfully launched its second indigenous Electro-Optical satellite (EO-2) from the Yangjiang Seashore Launch Centre (YSLC) in China, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s expanding space capabilities.

EO-2 was designed, engineered, and integrated at SUPARCO’s Satellite Research and Development Centre (SRDC) using in-house research and systems engineering, demonstrating Pakistan’s growing expertise in satellite design, payload integration, testing, and mission readiness.
The satellite will operate alongside EO-1, observing the Earth under different illumination conditions to improve surface feature interpretation, change detection, and imaging continuity. EO-2 strengthens Pakistan’s Earth observation fleet, enhancing the availability of critical data for national planning, governance, resource management, and the development of reliable, domestically engineered space systems.
