Pakistan on Sunday strongly rejected Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar’s “highly inflammatory, baseless and irresponsible” allegations against the Pakistan Army, calling them a diversionary tactic aimed at concealing India’s own destabilising activities in the region.
In an interview with NDTV, Jaishankar had claimed that India’s challenges with Pakistan “emanate from the Pakistan Army” and accused the military of harbouring ideological hostility towards New Delhi.
Responding to the remarks, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said Pakistan remains a responsible state whose national institutions — including the armed forces — are fully committed to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He said the May 2025 conflict was a clear demonstration of the Pakistan Army’s professionalism and readiness to defend the nation.
“The May 2025 conflict vividly demonstrated the armed forces’ resolve to defend the motherland against any Indian aggression in a befitting, effective yet responsible manner,” the FO statement said, adding that “no amount of propaganda can belie this truth.”
Andrabi said that India’s attempts to malign Pakistan’s institutions are part of a broader propaganda campaign aimed at distracting the world from New Delhi’s regional interference and its state-sponsored terrorism inside Pakistan.
He criticised the Indian leadership’s rhetoric as “incendiary,” noting that such statements reflect India’s disregard for peace and stability in South Asia. He urged New Delhi to examine the rise of extremist Hindutva ideology at home, which he said has unleashed mob violence, arbitrary detentions and the demolition of religious sites.
Despite tensions, the spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to coexistence, dialogue and diplomacy, while affirming that the country remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and national interests.
