The veteran actress, who frequently appears on television programmes to discuss marriage, family life and social issues, made the comments during a private TV channel’s morning show while sharing her views on post-marriage expectations.
During the programme, Saba Faisal said that after a wedding, the in-laws’ home is often filled with guests and added responsibilities, most of which are managed by the mother-in-law. She remarked that a newly married bride does not usually have immediate responsibilities during this period.
She further suggested that if a bride feels the need to rest, she should seek permission from her mother-in-law or married sister-in-law. According to her, directly demanding rest may not be well received in traditional households, and a polite request would be more appropriate.
The actress also stressed that tone and manner of communication play an important role, claiming that even a strict mother-in-law would likely agree if approached respectfully.
Following the broadcast, the remarks sparked strong reactions on social media, with many users criticising the comments as outdated and unfair. One user questioned whether such expectations reflected a family home or a hostel-like environment, while another suggested that the actress should avoid appearing on morning shows due to what they described as repeatedly controversial statements.
