Taylor Swift’s extended run at the top of the Global Spotify chart has come to an end after a record-breaking 78 consecutive days at No. 1.
Swift’s hit The Fate of Ophelia, which had dominated the chart for nearly three months, was overtaken by End of Beginning by Djo, the music project of actor Joe Keery. The shift marks one of the most notable recent changes on the global streaming rankings.

Djo surged to the top spot following the finale of Netflix’s Stranger Things, in which Keery plays fan-favourite Steve Harrington. Although End of Beginning was originally released in 2022, the track regained momentum after going viral on TikTok, propelling it back to the summit of the charts.
Despite being dethroned, Swift has previously expressed admiration for Djo’s work. The pop superstar has publicly praised End of Beginning, underscoring her interest in emerging and alternative music.
Keery, whose real name is Joe Keery, has spoken about being surprised by Swift’s support. In a 2024 appearance on The Spout podcast, he recalled meeting Swift at a New York studio and learning that she was already familiar with his music.
“She said, ‘Hey, I really love that track of yours, End of Beginning,’” Keery said, adding that Swift explained she enjoys actively discovering new music and artists.
Keery described Swift as a genuine music enthusiast whose curiosity for fresh sounds naturally led her to his work.
