The Vancouver Whitecaps will compete in their first-ever MLS Cup after defeating San Diego FC 3-1 in the Western Conference final on Saturday, Nov. 29, at Snapdragon Stadium.
Messi Magic Helps Inter Miami Reach First-Ever MLS Cup Final
Brian White, Vancouver’s top scorer during the regular season, scored twice to secure the win and send the Whitecaps into the championship. Their reward is a clash against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, who earned the Eastern Conference spot after a dominant 5-1 victory over New York City FC. The 2025 MLS Cup is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6, at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with live coverage on Apple TV and FOX at 2:30 p.m. ET.
The milestone caps a historic season for Vancouver under first-year head coach Jesper Sørensen. Earlier in 2025, the Whitecaps reached the Concacaf Champions Cup final, narrowly losing to Cruz Azul of Liga MX, and eliminated Inter Miami in the semifinals. They also secured their fourth consecutive Canadian Championship.
Vancouver is the first Canada-based MLS team to reach the MLS Cup since Toronto FC in 2019.
San Diego FC had hoped to become the first MLS expansion team to reach the league final since the Chicago Fire in 1998, but fell just short of the milestone.
With this matchup, Inter Miami and Vancouver Whitecaps will become the 20th and 21st different clubs to compete in MLS Cup history.
