Federal and provincial leaders attend a high-level security conference in Quetta.
Balochistan Security: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti co-chaired a high-level security conference in Quetta on Saturday, approving a comprehensive master plan to dismantle militant networks and strengthen law enforcement across the province.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Bugti presented a detailed briefing on Balochistan’s security situation. He outlined the province’s current security environment, ongoing operations and long-term counterinsurgency strategy.
Law enforcement to receive modern support
The federal government pledged logistical, technical and financial assistance to strengthen the Balochistan Police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
Furthermore, the plan includes providing both forces with modern equipment, advanced intelligence systems and enhanced operational capabilities.
Focus on intelligence and coordination
Naqvi said lasting peace depends on the effective use of modern technology, real-time intelligence and the expertise of experienced police commanders.
Moreover, he said the federal and provincial governments remain fully coordinated in their efforts to improve security across Balochistan.
Chief Minister Bugti reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enforcing the state’s writ and said authorities would not allow armed groups to operate in the province.
Security and development strategy
Bugti also outlined a dual-track approach that combines security operations with youth-focused development initiatives.
In addition, he said the government would expand merit-based employment opportunities, vocational training and education programmes to promote social stability and support economic growth.
The conference concluded with both governments reaffirming their commitment to implementing the approved master plan and strengthening law enforcement to improve security across Balochistan.
