Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has stressed the need to align police training with contemporary requirements to further improve professional standards across the police force.

Naqvi made the remarks during a visit to the National Police Academy in Islamabad, where he reviewed ongoing development and upgradation projects and assessed progress on the academy’s improvement plans.

The interior minister also inspected model rooms prepared for under-training officers and received briefings on various projects under way at the academy. He later chaired a meeting to review progress on the institution’s upgradation programme.

Naqvi directed authorities to reconstruct the conference room and auditorium and ordered that all development projects be completed within the prescribed timelines while maintaining proper planning and quality standards.

He said Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry was reviewing the academy’s upgradation projects on a daily basis to ensure timely implementation.

The minister also directed officials to provide trainee officers with modern training equipment on the pattern of SWAT teams. He said officers should receive the equipment and training needed to meet the demands of modern policing.

Naqvi further called for highly qualified and experienced faculty to be engaged for the Mid-Career Management Course (MCMC).

The meeting also decided to recommend the inclusion of modern modules on digital policing and artificial intelligence in the MCMC curriculum.

Naqvi said updating police training was essential to improve the quality and effectiveness of the force and enable officers to respond to emerging professional and technological challenges.

The meeting was attended by the Commandant of the National Police Academy, officials from the Capital Development Authority and other relevant authorities.
