Five people, including two girls aged three and five, were found dead inside a house in Falak Naz Society in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Hadid area, prompting a police investigation and a directive for a detailed inquiry from Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho. Police said officers recovered a pistol and a letter from the scene. Investigators are examining the evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths and determine whether a criminal element was involved. The deceased were identified as 30-year-old Shahzaib, his 28-year-old wife, Saba, his 20-year-old sister, Shumaila, and the couple’s daughters, five-year-old Aizel and three-year-old Aarya. Police and rescue personnel reached the house after the incident was reported. The bodies were transferred to Jinnah Hospital for medico-legal procedures. According to police officials, Shahzaib, who worked as a property agent, allegedly poisoned his sister and the two children before shooting himself and his wife. Investigators are working to establish the sequence of events and verify the circumstances surrounding each death. A letter found in Shahzaib’s pocket is among the key pieces of evidence being examined. Police said it referred to unemployment, financial difficulties and alleged mistreatment or indifference by relatives following his father’s death. However, Shahzaib’s paternal uncle disputed the suggestion that the family was experiencing financial hardship, offering a conflicting account of the circumstances described in the letter. Investigators are reviewing the letter alongside forensic evidence and statements from relatives. The claims contained in the letter have not been independently established. Police said no case had been registered at the time of the report, while relatives were being questioned as part of the inquiry. Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho has sought a detailed report from the deputy inspector general of police for the East Range. He directed officers to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation and establish the causes of the deaths. Odho instructed the relevant officers to collect evidence, complete the required legal formalities and arrange forensic analysis. He also directed investigators to examine possible criminal aspects of the incident and identify anyone who may have been involved. The police chief ordered officers to keep him regularly informed about developments, stressing that the investigation must be based on evidence and established facts. The inquiry remains ongoing as investigators seek to determine what led to the deaths of the five family members in Karachi.
