Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has pledged to provide all possible resources and facilities to Daanish schools as Pakistan moves to expand access to quality education through artificial intelligence (AI). Speaking at a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between the Ministry of Education and Gauth AI on Monday, the prime minister described the agreement as an important step towards expanding educational opportunities. He also welcomed the technology company’s offer of free subscriptions for Pakistani teachers and students. Gauth AI is providing 4,000 free subscriptions to Pakistan. The government will allocate 1,000 of these to teachers working at Daanish schools, while the initiative will also support educators across the country. Mr Sharif said the government had made every effort to provide facilities for students. He described Daanish schools as an important educational initiative that offers free education and pledged continued government support. Maldives President: Mohamed Muizzu to visit Pakistan from October 20 to 22 “There is no dearth of resources, and the government will provide all possible resources to the Daanish schools,” he said. Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the initiative reflected the prime minister’s vision of using technology to promote development and improve education through modern digital solutions. She said TikTok had made its AI technology available in Pakistan and that the launch of paid Gauth AI services would make Pakistan the second country after the United States to receive the facility. Maria Kohan, regional director of global public policy at ByteDance, said technology could encourage creativity, open up opportunities and improve lives, particularly through education. She said ByteDance had already supported educational awareness through TikTok. Its dedicated science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) feed, launched in Pakistan in partnership with the relevant federal ministries, was helping young people discover educational content in new ways. Ms Kohan said the launch of Gauth in Pakistan marked another step in the company’s efforts to support education through technology. Gauth is an AI-powered study platform that offers step-by-step explanations, personalised tutoring and interactive learning tools. It aims to help students understand concepts rather than simply obtain answers. Ms Kohan said the platform had more than 200 million users worldwide and welcomed the opportunity to make it available to young people in Pakistan. Under the agreement, Gauth will provide 4,000 free subscriptions for teachers nationwide, including 1,000 for Daanish schools educators. The subscriptions will give teachers access to AI-powered tools designed to support classroom instruction and improve students’ learning experiences. The company will also provide 180 free subscriptions for local students, Ms Kohan said. Post navigation Sharjeel Memon: PTI faces K-P crisis over alleged soft stance on militants
