Indian actor Tiger Shroff escaped unharmed in a shooting incident in Mumbai’s Juhu area, while his driver and a bystander were injured, local media reported. The shooting occurred at around 7pm as Shroff was leaving his workplace, The Hindu reported, citing an official. Mumbai Zone-II Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg said the actor’s driver, identified as Firdaus, suffered an injury to his left hand. A bystander named Chauhan was also wounded. Both were taken for medical treatment. Maharashtra Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti to investigate the incident and take action against those responsible, according to the report. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said public safety remained the government’s top priority. He warned that authorities would not tolerate threats against the film industry. “Our priority is to keep Mumbai’s citizens safe. We will not spare anyone trying to threaten our film industry,” Shinde said. He recalled Mumbai’s efforts to curb gang violence during the 1990s and said the authorities would not allow criminal networks to re-emerge. “This incident is unfortunate,” he added. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) expressed concern over the incident, saying repeated attacks had created fear among Bollywood figures. The association cited previous incidents, including gunfire outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra, the stabbing of actor Saif Ali Khan at his home, shooting outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence and repeated attacks on comedian Kapil Sharma’s café. AICWA said the incidents appeared to suggest a pattern of attacks intended to intimidate film industry figures and extort money. These claims have not been independently established. The association criticised the government and police for failing to prevent repeated attacks, arguing that statements alone would not provide adequate protection. It called on Chief Minister Fadnavis to take strict action, demanding the arrest of those allegedly involved in the shooting and anyone who ordered it. The association also urged authorities to dismantle extortion networks targeting film personalities and provide adequate security for actors, industry workers and their families. Local media reports also referred to an unverified social media post that allegedly claimed responsibility for the shooting. The post reportedly threatened people in Mumbai’s film industry who worked with Salman Khan and did not comply with the group’s demands. Authorities had not publicly confirmed the claim, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting remained under investigation, according to the reports.
