According to a KW&SC spokesperson, K-Electric formally requested the shutdown to facilitate maintenance activities on December 14. As a result, the Hub Pumping Station will remain completely offline during the maintenance period.
Under the maintenance schedule shared by K-Electric, the work will commence at 9:00am and continue until 7:00pm, causing an electricity outage of approximately 10 hours. The disruption is expected to reduce Karachi’s water supply by nearly 40 million gallons, mainly impacting parts of West Karachi and the Sher Shah area.
The spokesperson added that Karachi typically receives around 650 million gallons of water per day. Despite the temporary shortfall, KW&SC will continue supplying approximately 450 million gallons during the maintenance period.
KW&SC has urged residents to use water judiciously to minimise inconvenience during the temporary reduction in supply.
