DAMBULLA: Persistent rain led to the abandonment of the second Twenty20 International between Sri Lanka and Pakistan without a ball being bowled at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Friday.

Pakistan, led by Salman Ali Agha, continue to hold a 1–0 lead in the three-match series after registering a comfortable six-wicket victory in the opening match on Wednesday at the same venue.
With the washout, the series will now be decided in the third and final T20I, scheduled to be played in Dambulla on Sunday.
The series is serving as preparation for next month’s ICC T20 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Pakistan are set to play all of their World Cup matches in Sri Lanka.
Before the global tournament begins on February 7, Pakistan are also scheduled to host Australia for a three-match T20 series. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will host England in a white-ball series later this month as part of their own World Cup preparations.
