Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the proposed site near Bhara Kahu Bypass on Murree Road on Thursday, where he inspected the location and reviewed initial arrangements for the project.
During the visit, the minister directed authorities to immediately remove all illegal encroachments from the site. He stressed that legal action would be taken against encroachers without discrimination and that all unauthorised constructions would be demolished.
Naqvi made it clear that no compensation or concessions would be granted to illegal occupants, adding that the development of world-class facilities in Islamabad remains a key government priority.
He said the new convention centre would enable Pakistan to host major international conferences, including future SCO summits, and would play an important role in improving the country’s global image.
The interior minister was accompanied by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Mehmood, and other senior officials.
