ISLAMABAD: Commander Azerbaijan Naval Forces, Rear Admiral Shahin Mammadov, called on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad on Monday.

Upon arrival, Rear Admiral Mammadov was received by Admiral Naveed Ashraf, where a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Navy presented a guard of honour. The visiting dignitary later laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument and was introduced to principal staff officers at Naval Headquarters.
During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the regional maritime security environment, and avenues for enhanced cooperation in training and defence. The discussion also covered opportunities to further strengthen professional collaboration between the two navies.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding and diversifying the existing bilateral defence relationship. Rear Admiral Mammadov was also briefed on ongoing Pakistan Navy projects during his visit.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan share longstanding brotherly relations marked by close naval cooperation. Officials said the visit of the Azerbaijan Naval Forces commander is expected to further deepen bilateral collaboration between the two countries, particularly in the maritime domain.
