Saka marked his 300th appearance for Arsenal in style, becoming the fourth-youngest player in the club’s history to reach the milestone. The 24-year-old winger struck in the ninth minute when his powerful shot from the edge of the box deflected off Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and slipped through the legs of goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.

Although City still have a game in hand and will host the league leaders in April, Arsenal now control their own destiny in the title race. Mikel Arteta’s side have responded strongly to doubts about their ability to handle pressure, winning three consecutive league matches.

Despite taking the lead early, Arsenal struggled to create clear chances and had to rely on disciplined defending and hard work to protect their advantage.
Brighton pushed hard for an equaliser after the break. Georginio Rutter forced a fine save from Raya with a half-volley, while Yankuba Minteh saw a shot deflect narrowly wide. Jack Hinshelwood also missed a promising header from close range.
Arsenal were without defender William Saliba due to an ankle injury but held firm to secure a crucial win.
The Gunners have now won five and drawn two of their last seven league matches, while also progressing in multiple competitions, keeping alive their hopes of a memorable season.
