Earlier, Aoun said Iran was using Lebanon to advance its interests during talks with Washington. He also argued that Lebanese citizens were paying the price for Tehran’s regional policies.
However, Araghchi strongly disagreed with the accusation and responded through a post on X.
Araghchi Rejects Allegation
In his statement, Araghchi denied that Iran was using Lebanon as leverage in diplomatic negotiations.
“Had Lebanon been a bargaining chip for Iran, we’d have a deal long ago,” he wrote.
Furthermore, the Iranian foreign minister urged the Lebanese president to focus on what he described as Lebanon’s “real foe.”
“Save Lebanon from your real foe, Mr President,” Araghchi added.
Debate Over Regional Influence
The exchange highlights ongoing disagreements over Iran’s influence in Lebanon and the wider Middle East.
Meanwhile, discussions about Iran’s regional role and its engagement with the United States continue to attract international attention.
In recent years, Lebanon has faced political and economic challenges. At the same time, regional rivalries have continued to shape debate about the country’s future.
Diplomatic Discussion Continues
So far, Lebanese officials have not responded publicly to Araghchi’s latest remarks.
Likewise, Iranian officials have not indicated whether the exchange will affect broader diplomatic relations between Tehran and Beirut.
Nevertheless, political leaders, analysts, and observers across the region continue to discuss the comments as debates over Iran’s role in Middle Eastern affairs persist.
