Reports claiming that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is engaged and planning to marry a woman from Liechtenstein have been rejected by the Pakistan Peoples Party as “incorrect and unfounded”. The reports circulating online claimed that Bilawal’s alleged fiancée is from Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, and that President Asif Ali Zardari had travelled to the European country with family members to discuss the proposed marriage and set a date. Sources cited in the reports claimed that the wedding could take place by the end of this year. However, the Pakistan Peoples Party has categorically denied the claims. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, who also serves as a spokesperson for PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, rejected the reports in a social media post on Saturday. “The news story regarding Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s engagement or wedding is incorrect and unfounded,” he said. There has been no official announcement from Bilawal Bhutto Zardari or his family confirming an engagement or marriage. The claims therefore remain unverified, while the PPP’s denial represents the party’s official position on the matter. Liechtenstein is a small sovereign state in western Europe, located between Switzerland and Austria. Vaduz is its capital and political and administrative centre.
