Dera Ismail Khan operation in which eight terrorists were killedSecurity forces conduct an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan

Security sources say weapons, ammunition and foreign currency were recovered during the intelligence-based operation carried out under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision.

Eight terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij, including three key commanders, were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan, security sources said on Sunday.

The operation was launched after security forces received intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area, according to the sources. Fitna al-Khawarij is the term used by Pakistani authorities for members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Security sources said forces recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition, along with foreign currency, from the site of the operation. The action was carried out under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam counterterrorism initiative.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for what he described as timely and effective action against the terrorists. He paid tribute to the personnel involved and said the nation stood with the security forces in the fight against terrorism.

The prime minister reiterated the government’s resolve to continue operations against Fitna al-Khawarij until terrorism is eliminated, saying sustained efforts were essential for peace and stability in Pakistan.

The latest operation comes amid continued militant violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of Pakistan. Recent attacks have killed and wounded security personnel and civilians, while security forces have carried out a series of intelligence-led operations against militant groups.
