Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has clarified that the recently introduced e-challans apply only to Karachi residents and that the provincial government has no plans to reduce the fines.

Speaking to the media in Karachi, Shah said a meeting of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board had been convened and that divisional waste management boards across the province were being activated. He emphasized that improvements across Karachi would continue and that door-to-door garbage collection must remain uninterrupted.
Responding to political statements from the MQM, Shah said the party was attempting to bolster its political position through such remarks. “I have contacted MQM and Jamaat-e-Islami. They always make such claims—MQM even suggested creating a new province. If the weather was hot, we would have offered them a cold drink; let them say what they want,” he said.
Reaffirming the government’s stance, Shah stated that e-challan fines would not be lowered. “To improve Karachi, we all need to work together,” he noted.
The minister further said that the local government system was being strengthened, questioning why the MQM did not take part in the recent local body elections. He added that the PTI had previously dismantled the local government structure in Punjab.
His remarks come amid recent reports indicating that the provincial government was considering adjusting e-challan penalties following public concerns.
