Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto will pay an official visit to Pakistan from December 8 to 9, marking his first trip to Islamabad as head of state and the first Indonesian presidential visit since 2018, the Foreign Office (FO) announced on Sunday.
The FO said President Prabowo will arrive with a high-level delegation comprising senior ministers and top officials. His visit comes at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and carries added significance as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Indonesia.
During his two-day stay, President Prabowo will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz. He will also meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
According to the FO, discussions will cover a broad spectrum of cooperation, including trade, investment, defence, health, information technology, climate resilience, education, and culture, along with enhanced collaboration at regional and global forums.
“Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the visit,” the statement added.
The FO noted that Pakistan and Indonesia share close, cordial, and long-standing ties rooted in shared values and mutual interests. It said President Prabowo’s visit will provide a key opportunity to further deepen bilateral relations and expand mutually beneficial cooperation across diverse sectors.
