Islamabad: Participants of the 8th Maritime Security Workshop (MARSEW-8) visited Pakistan Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, where they interacted with Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

During the visit, Admiral Ashraf highlighted emerging maritime challenges, opportunities within the maritime domain, and the vast potential of Pakistan’s blue economy. He also emphasized the Navy’s role in maintaining a credible deterrence during Marka-e-Haq and its contributions to regional peace and stability through active engagement in the Combined Maritime Forces and Regional Maritime Security Patrols.
The delegation, comprising parliamentarians, politicians, bureaucrats, senior armed forces officers, media representatives, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and academics, was briefed on contemporary maritime threats, Pakistan Navy’s maritime domain awareness initiatives, and community development projects along the coast. Participants praised MARSEW’s role in enhancing maritime awareness and contributing to national maritime policy-making, as well as the Navy’s commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime interests.
The eleven-day workshop aims to deepen understanding of maritime security and the geopolitical importance of the Indian Ocean, providing a platform for deliberation on key national maritime challenges and opportunities.
