Pakistan’s security forces have killed 49 militants in a series of intelligence-led operations conducted with police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, according to the military’s media wing, ISPR.

The operations were carried out over the past few days as part of an ongoing counterterrorism campaign targeting what ISPR described as Indian-sponsored militant networks.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security forces killed 12 militants in operations in Bannu, North Waziristan, Orakzai and Khyber districts. ISPR said the militants belonged to Fitna Al Khwarij.

Security personnel recovered and destroyed explosives, improvised explosive device detonators, weapons, ammunition and motorcycles during the operations.

In Balochistan, 37 militants were killed in 10 intelligence-based operations in Mastung, Mach, Khuzdar and Panjgur districts. ISPR said the militants belonged to Fitna Al Hindustan.

The forces also seized and destroyed weapons, explosive drums and remote-detonation equipment during the operations.

ISPR said security forces and law-enforcement agencies were conducting sanitisation operations in the affected areas to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.

The military said the operations formed part of the government-approved Azm-e-Istehkam counterterrorism campaign and reaffirmed its commitment to preventing foreign-sponsored terrorism and maintaining the country’s security.
