According to the updated plan issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board, the opening match will take place at Gaddafi Stadium between defending champions Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kings. However, the traditional opening ceremony has been cancelled, and the match will be played without spectators.
Officials said the adjustments were made in line with national interests and security considerations. Under the revised schedule, a total of 44 matches will be played during the tournament, evenly divided between Karachi and Lahore, with each city hosting 22 matches.
Earlier, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated that the current measures, though restrictive, are necessary and will contribute to smoother operations in the future.
Historically, Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United have been the most successful teams in the league, each winning three titles. Other champions include Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, and Quetta Gladiators, who have each secured one title.
