ISLAMABAD: The federal government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel by more than Rs3 per litre, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division. The price of petrol has risen by Rs3.81 per litre, taking the new price to Rs341.59 per litre. The price of high-speed diesel has increased by Rs3.59 per litre, bringing it to Rs368.29 per litre. According to the notification, the revised petroleum prices will remain in effect until August 24. The latest increase comes after an earlier adjustment in petroleum prices. Under the previous notification issued on the recommendation of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), petrol had increased by Rs0.27 per litre to Rs337.78, while high-speed diesel rose by Rs1.64 to Rs364.70 per litre. The latest adjustment will increase transportation and operating costs for businesses and consumers, with the impact likely to be reflected in fares and prices of goods.
