Shuhada Run attracted more than 5,000 participants in Karachi on Sunday as Sindh Police organised the third edition of the annual race to mark Police Martyrs’ Day. The event took place in collaboration with the Sindh Police Sports Board and Born2Run. Police officers, athletes, families and citizens from different backgrounds joined the event. Organisers also held the race simultaneously in 12 cities across Pakistan. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Javed Alam Odho attended the ceremony alongside Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan, DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah, SSP CTD Irfan Bahadur and several social figures. Winners Receive Cash Prizes Organisers awarded cash prizes to the top three finishers in both the men’s and women’s categories. First-place winners received Rs100,000 each. Second-place finishers earned Rs75,000, while third-place winners received Rs50,000. Sohail Amir claimed first place in the men’s race. Shajar finished second, and Riaz secured third position. Meanwhile, Maria Bibi won the women’s race. Natasha finished second, while Mumtaz Memon claimed third place. IG Sindh Highlights Sacrifices and Youth Engagement Speaking at the event, IGP Sindh Javed Alam Odho said more than 2,000 Sindh Police personnel had sacrificed their lives while protecting the province. He described the Shuhada Run as a lasting tribute to their courage and dedication. He welcomed the participation of over 5,000 citizens and praised DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah, SSP CTD Irfan Bahadur and Born2Run founder Sohail Shabbir for successfully organising the event. The police chief reaffirmed that Sindh Police would continue protecting the country, the province and the city. He added that the force was promoting sports to encourage healthy activities and keep young people away from crime and drug abuse. He also urged citizens to support law enforcement agencies in the fight against narcotics. According to the IG, police registered more than 750 drug-related cases and arrested around 850 suspects over the past year. In addition, he appealed to residents to help keep Karachi clean and environmentally friendly. He assured citizens that Sindh Police would fully support such efforts. Police Reaffirm Commitment Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan said the sacrifices of police martyrs would always inspire the force. He reaffirmed the police’s commitment to carrying forward the mission of fallen officers and supporting their families.
