Sindh Police Prioritizing Crime Prevention and Law & Order, Says IGP Javed Alam Odho
KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Javed Alam Odho said that the primary focus of Sindh Police remains crime prevention and maintaining law and order, while gradually shifting towards modern, technology-driven policing systems.

He made these remarks while addressing the Rotary Club Karachi’s annual session titled “Challenges of Governing Sindh,” held at a local hotel. The 32nd meeting of the club was attended by its President Naila Masood, Honorary Secretary Zohair Ali Sharif, and other members.
The session included detailed discussions on governance challenges in Sindh, covering administrative structures, democratic frameworks, and institutional issues. During his address, the IGP outlined the objectives of Sindh Police, its operational infrastructure, and the role of community-oriented policing in maintaining public safety.
He also discussed the evolution of policing globally and within the subcontinent, highlighting modernization trends, historical development, and the increasing importance of technology in law enforcement.
IGP Odho emphasized that technology-based policing represents the future, noting that Sindh Police is steadily adopting modern systems to improve efficiency and service delivery. He cited initiatives such as E-Challaning and the Safe City Project as examples of ongoing reforms.
He further claimed that the crime detection rate in Sindh is comparatively higher than in many international cities, reflecting the effectiveness of current policing strategies.
During the interactive session, participants raised questions regarding administrative and operational aspects of policing, while Rotary Club members appreciated the efforts of Sindh Police in tackling crime and drug-related issues.
At the conclusion of the event, the IGP was presented with a certificate of appreciation and an honorary commemorative shield in recognition of his services.
