Two Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip killed at least two people, including a four-year-old boy, and wounded seven others on Sunday, Palestinian health officials said. One strike hit a building in Zawayda in central Gaza after the Israeli military warned the property’s owners to leave, residents said. Medics said debris and shrapnel spread across the surrounding area, injuring at least six people. Four-year-old Mohammad Abdel-Salam Taha was among those wounded and later died in hospital. “There is no ceasefire, there is nothing,” said Abu Ahmed, a displaced Palestinian sheltering near the building, which was reduced to twisted metal and concrete. “We want solutions, we want to live in peace,” he said. JI announces nationwide shutter-down strike over petroleum levy The second strike occurred in the nearby Nuseirat refugee camp, according to Palestinian health officials. The Israeli military said it was investigating both incidents. Strikes continue despite ceasefire A US-backed ceasefire reached in October 2025 halted major fighting in Gaza but has not stopped Israeli military strikes, which Israel says are intended to prevent attacks by Hamas. The Israeli military said late Saturday that it had killed Sharif Al-Hasnat, a senior Hamas figure, in Deir Al-Balah. The military said he was involved in efforts to restore Hamas’s underground infrastructure. Hamas has accused Israel of violating the ceasefire and undermining efforts to implement US President Donald Trump’s broader plan to end the conflict, which includes Israeli withdrawals and Hamas disarmament. Palestinian health officials say more than 1,280 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire began last October. The Israeli military says four Israeli soldiers have been killed during the same period. Violence spreads to West Bank Violence also continued in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Israeli police and the military said an Israeli man was stabbed and wounded near Jericho by a suspected Palestinian attacker. The suspect fled on foot, prompting Israeli forces to launch a search. In a separate incident, Palestinian health officials said Israeli forces shot and killed 14-year-old Islam Ajjouri during a raid on Askar refugee camp near Nablus. The Israeli military said it was investigating the incident. The West Bank, where around three million Palestinians live alongside about 500,000 Israeli settlers, has experienced increasing settler violence and land seizures. The United Nations and most countries consider Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territory illegal under international law. Israel rejects that position and points to its historical and biblical ties to the land. Post navigation Lionel Messi: Emotional goal honours late father as Inter Miami draw with Philadelphia
