The two-hour meeting focused primarily on the government’s decision to have Imran Khan undergo a medical examination at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) rather than Shifa International Hospital, sources said. They reviewed the possibility of a contempt of court petition by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and considered the government’s potential legal response. According to sources, Nawaz Sharif stressed that Pakistan could not afford another political or constitutional crisis and called for the situation to be handled carefully. The meeting also included discussions on potential candidates for the position of prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also attended the meeting. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to travel to the United States next month to attend the United Nations General Assembly session. During the visit, he is likely to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders on the sidelines of the UN gathering.
