The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast Karachi Rain and thunderstorms from September 14 as a low-pressure system moves westward from the Bay of Bengal. The Met Office said the system formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and coastal areas of Odisha. It has since moved over Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas and is expected to continue moving west. The weather system is expected to bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to several districts across Sindh. The affected areas include Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal and Tando Muhammad Khan. The Met Office has also forecast rain and thunderstorms in Sanghar, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad and Jamshoro from September 14 to 16. For Karachi, officials expect light rain and thunderstorms during the same period. The maximum temperature could reach between 36°C and 37°C, with hot and humid conditions continuing. The PMD has also forecast rainfall in parts of Punjab. A westerly wave is expected to enter the upper parts of the country over the weekend and strengthen by September 14. Residents in Karachi and other affected areas may therefore see a shift from hot and humid conditions to rain and thunderstorms as the weather systems develop.
