Security forces have killed nine Indian-sponsored terrorists in two separate intelligence-based operations in Balochistan, according to the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In a statement, ISPR said security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Kachhi district, where they uncovered a terrorist hideout. An intense exchange of fire followed, resulting in the deaths of seven militants described by the military as Indian-sponsored terrorists.

In a separate operation in Wadh district, security forces tracked and intercepted the movement of suspected militants. Two were killed after an exchange of fire, the statement said.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered during the operations, according to ISPR. Security forces are conducting sanitisation operations in the affected areas to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.

The military said counterterrorism efforts would continue under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan. It said security forces and law enforcement agencies remained committed to combating what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism across the country.

The operations come amid reported cross-border hostilities along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where shelling in Angoor Adda, Lower South Waziristan, left one civilian dead and five members of a family injured, according to security sources.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night when firing and shelling struck a residential area near the border. A shell hit a house, causing civilian casualties, the sources said.

Security sources attributed the attack to the Afghan Taliban regime, alleging that civilian areas had been targeted during the exchange of fire. The incident prompted anger among local residents over the loss of life and injuries.

Pakistan’s armed forces responded to the reported cross-border attack by targeting and destroying several Afghan Taliban posts, the sources said.

Security officials added that Pakistani troops deployed along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border remained on high alert and prepared to respond to any further aggression.
