According to sources, the detained suspect played a major role in assisting the suicide bomber and managing the movement of the explosive vest. Intelligence personnel have also apprehended a tailor accused of modifying the suicide jacket, with investigators stating that he was fully aware of the vest’s intended use.
Authorities revealed that the explosive vest was originally prepared in Peshawar, where all materials were assembled before being transported to Islamabad. The facilitator reportedly smuggled the completed suicide jacket by concealing it inside a sack of jaggery. Upon arriving in the capital, he hid the vest under a tree for three days to evade law enforcement surveillance.
The jacket was later taken to a tailor for final adjustments, further exposing the extent of the support network behind the attack.
Officials say the suspect’s arrest has revealed new leads, with investigators expecting more critical disclosures as interrogation proceeds. The arrested facilitator has allegedly confessed to maintaining ties with Fitna al-Khawarij, the extremist group believed to be behind the deadly incident.
Security officials now believe that the operational network supporting the suicide bomber was far wider than initially assessed, involving multiple individuals providing logistical and operational support.
Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend all persons involved in planning, facilitating, and executing the attack. Authorities remain confident that continued arrests will help dismantle the remaining elements of the militant cell responsible.
